Elvis Costello joined Billy Joel on stage at his concert Tuesday evening, December 19, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The pair performed two songs together: Costello’s “Pump It Up” and Joel’s “Allentown.” For the first song, Costello provided vocals while Joel played piano, while the pair sang a duet on the second song.
Costello is just one of many artists who have made a guest appearance at Joel’s MSG shows. Others include Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Jimmy Fallon, Tony Bennett, Sting and Jon Bon Jovi.
Joel recently announced the final date of his monthly Madison Square Garden residency, which began back in 2014. The last show of the series is due to take place on July 25, 2024. T he final gig will also mark his 150th career show at the New York City arena.
Meanwhile, Costello will be touring the Southern U.S. to start the new year.
