Depeche Mode Share Video For ‘Before We Drown’

Depeche Mode recently released a music video for “Before We Drown,” a song from their Memento Mori record, after performing the track live for the first time last weekend.

The live performance took place during the band’s show at The O2 in London on January 27, their second night at the venue following an opening show on January 22.

The video, directed by Anton Corbijn, sees a gloomy figure in an overcoat slowly walking into a treacherous sea.

The song’s deep and evocative lyrics stress the need to keep moving forward in times of distress. “First we stand up, then we fall down. We have to move forward, before we drown.”

“Before We Drown” is the eighth song on the 24-track Memento Mori album.

The band collaborated with Corbijn for the videos of two other tracks, “Wagging Tongue” and “Ghosts Again,” from Memento Mori.
