Billy Joel Returns To Billboard Hot 100 For First Time Since 1997 With ‘Turn The Lights Back On’

Billy Joel has returned to the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since 1997 with his new single, “Turn the Lights Back On.”

The song, which Joel performed at this year’s Grammy Awards, made its debut at No. 62 on the chart dated February 17.

None of Joel’s songs have entered Hot 100 since his cover of Bob Dylan‘s “To Make You Feel My Love” made its entry on the chart dated October 11, 1997.

It’s going to be half-a-century since Joel made his debut on the Hot 10, when his hit song “Piano Man” was ranked No. 94 on the survey dated February 23, 1974. In all, the music legend has 43 Hot 100 entries to his credit.

“Turn the Lights Back On,” released on February 1 via Columbia Records, earned 5.1 million in radio audience, 4.5 million official streams and 22,000 combined physical and digital singles sold in the U.S. in the February 2-8 tracking week, according to Luminate.

Also, it improved its ranking by six places to No. 5 on the Digital Song Sales chart.
