Beyonce paid tribute to Tina Turner with the rendering of the late rock queen’s hit song “River Deep – Mountain High.”
Beyonce displayed an emotional performance of the title track of Ike & Tina Turner‘s 1966 studio album during a concert in London on Monday as part of her “Renaissance” world tour.
“I want you to allow me to sing one of my favorite songs,” the singer said before singing the song at the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium.
It was the first of Queen Bey’s five-night stand at the stadium. A video of Beyonce’s performance in front of the sold out audience, wearing an electric blue jumpsuit, was shared by one of her fans on Twitter.
Turner, hailed as the “Queen of Rock and Roll,” died at her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland, on May 24 at the age of 83.
Unlike Turner’s high-energy version, Beyonce performed a stripped-back cover of the song.
