  • Iowa State University Extension in Cherokee and Western Iowa Tech Community College and HyVee are partnering together to offer a Learning with Lunch educational workshop that will be at noon at the Western Iowa Tech Community College campus in Cherokee and will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Cost is $6 per person which covers the cost of a light lunch and pre-registration the day before the class is required. Call 225-6196 or e-mail xcherokee@iastate.edu to pre-register. Future workshops will be held on the second Wednesday of each month through April.

  • Darrel Draper portrays Theodore Roosevelt in a costumed re-enactment of Roosevelt on the campaign trail in his bid for the presidency as the 1912 Progressive "Bull Moose" Party candidate. It will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Sanford Museum.
  • There will be a Benefit Show for UNICEF to aid the people affected by the drought and famine in the Horn of Africa at The Gathering Place at         7 p.m. All proceeds will go to UNICEF.
  • There will be a Legislative Forum at 10 a.m. at City Hall.

                Sunday, February 19

  • Marcus Community Fair Appreciation Supper at the Marcus Community Center with a social hour at 6 p.m. and a catered meal at 7 p.m. All Fair volunteers are urged to attend.

The Regular KC meeting is the 3rd Monday of each month with wives and widows invited. 6:30 Social and 7:00 p.m. Dinner at K.C. Hall. (Sept. thru May)

Rotary meets every Monday at Noon.

The Parkinson's Disease Support Group meets the 4th Monday of every month at the library in Holstein at 6:30 p.m.

Sit & Stitch every Monday afternoon at the Library at 1:00 p.m.

Bingo at the Holstein Legion Hall every Tuesday evening at 7:00.

Cherokee Aviation Authority meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the airport.

Home Schoolers at the Library will be on Wednesdays from 2-3:00 p.m.

After School Bunch will have their meetings at the Library on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.

Youth in Action/4H will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday at the Library at 3:45.

Senior Coffee at 9:30 a.m. at The Gardens every Thursday.

Read-It Book Discussion Group at the Library will be on Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

"The Good Times Place" located at the Cherokee Community Center will have noon potluck the second Thursday of the month and wood carving and sewing/knitting, etc. every Thursday.

After School "Good News Club" for all elementary kids will meet on Fridays at the Roosevelt Elementary School from 3:15-4:30 p.m. This will be a fun time of Bible stories, games, songs, snacks and more. If interested have your child pick up a permission slip in the office at Roosevelt. A permission slip is required to attend.

The Cherokee Regional Medical Center Auxiliary will meet the 2nd Friday of each month. The meetings will be held at noon in the Education Room next to the cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Terrific Toddlers will meet one Saturday a month at the Library at          10:30 a.m. 1-2-3-4 year olds, accompanied by a responsible person will meet for stories, puppetry, finger plays, flannel board stories, a simple craft, a snack and lots of fun!

Cost $1 per stop.  If going to congregate meals, doctor or grocery store and are 60 or over, if you can't afford to pay you don't have to.  We would appreciate a $1 donation.   $2 if in a wheel chair. (Rate increase as of July 1: Curb to Curb is $3.50 and  Door to Door is $6.00).

Sioux City two times per month.  1st and 3rd Fridays (except in January it will be Jan. 8 and 22 because of the Jan. 1st holiday).  Leave Cherokee around 8 am and leave Sioux City mall at 3 pm.  $10 round trip fee.  Add $.50 for each extra stop.  Need at least 24 hour notice.

Aurelia every Friday.  $5 round trip fee to Cherokee and back. Need at least 24 hour notice.

Larrabee every Friday.  $5 round trip fee. Need at least 24 hour notice.
